I want him to say that in English with the Russian accent. I bet he sounds like a James Bond villian.

Last year, I bought a brilliant G.W. Bush countdown calendar in London. Remember, he has less and less days in office.

Polish support for missile deal soars

By VANESSA GERA – 4 hours ago

WARSAW, Poland (AP)— Poland's foreign minister said the country's citizens "have the right to feel threatened" by Russian rhetoric over plans to install a U.S. missile defense base here, according to an interview published Monday.

Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski also believes NATO should take a stand on the matter, the interview in the Dziennik daily said.

A new poll, meanwhile, said Polish support for the missile defense pact with the U.S. has soared following Russia's military campaign in Georgia and its threats against Poland.

Negotiations between Washington and Warsaw on placing 10 missile interceptors in Poland began in early 2007. Both sides struck a deal last week during the Russia-Georgia conflict.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected in Poland this week to sign it.

A day after the deal, a leading Russian general warned that Poland was exposing itself to attack — even a nuclear one — by accepting the missile base.

On Sunday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the Russian comments were "probably fairly empty rhetoric."

Sikorski, asked during the interview whether he considered the threats to be empty, replied: "To the contrary."

"If Russia threatens Poland, then we Poles have the right to feel threatened," he was quoted as saying. "But this type of statement from Russian generals is a problem for all of NATO and I expect the alliance to take a stand on this."

The signing ceremony with Rice will take place Wednesday, Sikorski said. Rice will fly to Warsaw after an emergency NATO meeting Tuesday in Brussels, Belgium, which Sikorski will attend.

Moscow fiercely opposes the missile defense deal, claiming that the planned U.S. system will target Russia. The U.S. strongly denies that, saying the system is designed to protect against threats from countries like Iran, and would in any case be powerless against Russia's arsenal of missiles.

In return for the deal, Poland won a U.S. promise to set up an additional garrison with a battery of Patriot missiles. Poland sought that system in hopes of protecting itself from a possible Russian threat.

The U.S. also plans to set up a linked radar installation in the Czech Republic.

According to the new poll, 58 percent of those surveyed support the missile defense plan — compared with 30 percent in March 2007, early on in the negotiations. The poll was published in the Rzeczpospolita daily.

It was the first time a majority of Poles surveyed have backed the U.S. missile defense plan, according to lead researcher Maciej Siejewicz from the Gfk Polonia polling agency.

The poll said 37 percent believe the deal is bad for Poland.

Gfk Polonia questioned 500 people Saturday, two days after the missile deal was struck and a day after the Russian general made his threat. The survey had a margin of error of up to 4.5 percentage points.

They are digging themselves into a deeper hole.

They should take their classic 30 year old hardware and go home.

Empty wagons make the most noise , when you don't hear anything from the United States , then you should start worrying. As long as their making noise they are not planning.

Don't forget Israel , they have one of the best air forces in the world!

And Iran is putting out the propaganda like its 1945 , every one wants to be a star !!

Time is running out !!

Anyone with half a brain knows the USA is no more going to oppose the Russians over Georgia than Russia opposed the USA and NATO sponsored war crimes in Serbia. Nations with large numbers of ICBMs simply do not feel it appropriate to directly challenge one another.
And look at the space program. The Russian technology may be old but who better puts cosmonauts (or perhaps warheads) into orbit?

Both are empires and both threaten smaller nations but neither threatens the other.

It seems that Medvedev is pushing Russia off the cliff... like there is no tomorrow for the Russian people.
Medvedev is ready to use nuclear bombs and kill millions of people in his own country and in any ex. Soviet Union country like Poland that cooperate with NATO and US which prove that Medvedev cannot be trusted and that he will not respect any agreement similar to his partner Ahmadinajad.
Is Medvedev is out of his mind pushing for nuclear war… or his efforts to take control over all oil and gas resources in Europe and Asia that will fill his pockets with billions of dollars are driving him out of control?
Medvedev that deployed several SS-21 missile launchers and supply vehicles to South Ossetia disregard the empty verbal warnings of Secretary of State Rice which is similar to the weak talk to the Iranian radical Islamic regime of Ahmadinajad.
During more than 3 years, US gave a pass to the brutal regime of Ahmadinajad to get nukes and dirty bombs from Russia and to use his Islamic terrorist suicide bombers to take over Lebanon, Gaza with no US retaliation for killing more than 1000 US troops in Iraq by the Iranian Mehdi Army Islamic terrorists.
Clearly, the fact that 150,000 of US troops are fighting in Iraq only tie the hands of US military forces to a war that is doomed to bring no advantage and nothing in return to US. It is time to send NATO and US troops to support Georgia to stop the taking over and destruction of Georgia by the brutal Russian regime that dreams about renewing the Soviet Union.
US State Department led by Rice failed time and again in its effort to appease pro radical Islamic and pro-Russian evil regimes.
Delaying protection of Georgia and stopping the Russian troops from destroying Georgia infrastructure and oil pipe that flow gas to the West will prove that US is nothing more than a paper tiger. Clearly, Putin and Medvedev are strongly relying on grandma Pelosi’s support for their attacks in US Congress as she is enjoying her long vacation while tying the hands of President Bush and US troops.
It is US Congress under delusional Marxist Obama Pelosi and Reid who gave green light to Russia and Iran to go ahead with their plan to take over the world’s oil and gas resources against the energy dependent US interests with Obama offering talking about large carrots and small sticks with Ahmadinajad and Putin.

"The world has seen that even today, there are political morons who are ready to kill innocent and defenseless people in order to satisfy their self-serving interests, while compensating for their own inability to resolve complicated issues by using the most terrible solution -- by exterminating an entire people."

Odd thing this war stuff. Can you tell which side made this statement? Actually it's quite valid I suppose no matter which imbecile made it. I'd sure like the chance to bitchslap both leaders myself.
