why not try and help these people instead of driving them out? These are your towns people too! Why not get them on section 8 and help many of them find jobs?

I was a homelss person in 1992. I was a hopeless drug addict. I had lost family friends and virtualyy all identity. I found my way to a shelter inc. facility in Richmond Ca. They after a few months referred me to a county ran drug treatment facility, Discovery House.14 years later I am happy to say I am sober, pay my taxes, have my family, own a home outright and have a place in my heart for all the homeless and understand a need for more shelters and drug treatment facilities as drug abuse ia a common denominator for the vast majority of the homless people I met along the way.

We have tried, but all we ever are the SAME people year after year asking for a handout. They don't want to try and work themselves out of their situations. They only want to be handed a wad of money! We have, many times, offered a free meal and pay for some honest work and they refuse. In fact, they have actually given us dirty looks for even suggesting that they work for the money. There are some of these people that can be helped to become a contributing member of society, but most don't want it. There are many opportunities in this state and county to help individuals get themselves out of this situation but many won't. Those who refuse to try shouldn't be enabled by allowing them to stand on the corner and ask for money!

On one hand I feel bad for the homeless on the other its always the same person standing at the stop light asking for money. After awhile I started to feel like in giving them an allowance. If he can stand at the light all day with a sighn that reads need money for food he can stand there with a sighn that says model homes and make $10.00 and hour
I cant cash my check and go to target without being asked 3 times on the way there for money and three times on the way home My mother is a drug addict and has been for 28 years I can’t help her she doesn’t want it We cant help these people unless they want to help them self’s

I spoke with one such person one day and he said he made between 1-300 dollars a day.

They make easily over 200 bucks a day, don't pay taxes and then go get heroin afterwards. It's a bit humiliating I'm sure but if you do it outside of your own city, It's not so bad.

UCBN TOPIC

All those wanting to pretend to be for the poor and have them move to Antioch where they can live off the taxpayers post here so we can have another E-topic survey... "Pretend to be for the poor & get rich" It's the good o'l white collar welfare fraud scam. Ooooooohhh, poor homeless... Let's move the homeless into the downtown area to end blight. Isn't that how UCBN works? They are for the poor as long as they pay their bills for mansions in SE Antioch. Welfare for the homeless is a great paying job for bureaucratic rich! Million dollar homes for the welfare workers is closer to the truth.

I noticed you been digging in the old dusty bin and dragging out year old topics. Whats wrong with wanting to help the needy but kick out those who are causing trouble? I'm not pretending and I don't make a damn dime off of any of this crap. I'm not a politician and I'm not a scam artist and I am not from the Ghetto. Stop changing your name, AA. it isn't cool like when I do it. ;) UCBN TOPIC wrote: All those wanting to pretend to be for the poor and have them move to Antioch where they can live off the taxpayers post here so we can have another E-topic survey... Its a common human trait... I suppose you would feel the same way about cops, corrupt govt. etc... if you had any encounters with bad cops or corrupt govt. officials... but then again, thats human nature, but it doesn't make it correct.:)

I don't care what these ultra leftist, liberal, from dis-functional families, socially resentful, semi-anarchist, people are saying; The're not walking the streets of Antioch at 2:00am or 10:30pm, so what do they care. As long as the community they're attacking gives way to their policies and ideas, they think they have won the battle. The Goverment cant take care of everyone, if not just look at all these socialist/communits countries, and ask yoursel'ves, "are their any poor, homeless people in their society ?????.....

homeless in Antioch

Hi all I've read some of your posts and wanted to introduce myself. I'm homeless in Antioch. Lost my home after my mom passed. Have to take care of my little brother now. and I work. Just fell upon hard times. I used to feel the way some of you feel about people asking for stuff. Being in my current situtation I've done things I never would have imagined. Like sleeping in my car on a cold night. driving aimless wasting gas because I didn't have enough for a hotel room. The police told me when they saw me sleeping (with pity in his eyes) that it's againist the law for me to sleep in my car. I had no where too go no choice. I held back my tears just nodded my head and moved on. I go to work in the same clothes that I've sleep in washing up in bathrooms. It happens. I love Antioch and my brother attends school there. I'm trying all that I can to get a place. its hard. so when you see someone on the streets try not to judge to hard

You sound like you should be on it until you get back on your feet. instead the silly leftist want to give it to third generation families who have been on it for decades. I guess you have to have family who work at welfare to get bumped up the list. Just curious how you were able to access the internet.

That person cold have accessed the internet from his/her job (since he/she stated that he/she works) or the library Not to mention, he/she may have friends with computers. I know some people now who are technically homeless, but don't know anyone who can help (I sure can't since losing my job, and apartment, forced me to move back in with my parents.
