I HAVE GOT 2 STUPID PARKING TICKETS IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE IN 3 WEEKS WHAT IS UP WITH THAT. DON'T THE LIVERMORE POLICE HAVE SOMETHING BETTER TO DO!! I USED TO THINK THAT WE HAD A GREAT POLICE DEPARTMENT. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE GOING DOWN HILL FAST. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE GOT A TICKET IN FRONT OF YOUR HOUSE.

I got for parking facing the wrong direction. The thing that gets me is that I knew I shouldn't do it, but I just needed to run in and change. Five minutes at the most and they got me. As long as it's a valid reason for the ticket, I'm cool with it though...I took a chance, cost me $25.

So, the police department is going down hill because they do their jobs and give out tickets.... Seems folks want the police around when they need them,,, right up till they are on the wrong end. Seems I would learn from the first ticket and not do the same thing again.

I hate driving down my block and see people parking anyway they feel they want to. Silly to you, but I prefer LVPD enforce parking violators. My advice, PARK THE CORRECT WAY.

Well actually- now they have the Community Service Officers giving out parking tickets too - you see them all the time in the "Community Service" vans. They also give out citations for people having trashy lawns, or parking cars on the lawns, or garbage cans not being put back in their proper place.
I am glad they are cleaning up the streets -and making sure people are doing what they're supposed to do.
What does it take? An extra 2 seconds to turn your car around and park the correct way? Not a big deal people.

Livermore has been giving parking tickets for years for crazy things. We parked backwards into a spot by the St Vincent De Paul to load a table into the trunk. While the trunk lid was open the police gave us a ticket for backing into the slot. We tried to explain it was easier to load the table with the car backed into the slot. Away from the traffic side. They didnt care they wrote it anyway. Livermore has noting else to do but give tickets and this is not anything new. We went to court and the judge said he thought it was crazy too. We got it dismissed. When I come to visit Livermore now I can see there is way too much being done for minor stuff and less and less being done for larger problems. I don't understand it either. What ever happened to giving someone a courtesy warning?

Yes, they may be doing there job but there are exceptions to rules at times. I think they go way over board. I am not saying all of them are bad because they are not. There are some excellent ones. I am just trying to say there are exception to rules sometimes.

I would suspect that Once a Livermore Resident isn't telling us the whole story. I would suspect that you were blocking traffic, had blocked traffic to park the way you did, had to perform a manuever to block traffic, or was just plain rude to the ticketing officer. It was dismissed, you win. Is your life now irreparably changed because you were inconvenienced? While there may be exceptions to rules sometimes, don't blame a traffic cop for not making one for you.

Since I received another side of the story from many of you about the ticket situation I want to tell you a positive one. My husband was terminally ill and I was driving down East Ave. One officer pulled me over and told me. Did you know you have expired tags on your car? Because we were under such stress I had forgot to put them on the license plate. I said, I have them in the glove compartment. I explained to this officer that my husband was ill and was sorry I forgot to put them on. This officer was kind and said to me, I can put it on in a hurry. He took the new one and put it on for me. I really appreciated his kindness. We continued on our way to UCSF for kemo treatment. This officer has retired and I will always remember his kindness. His Name was Richard Hudson. Now before anyone writes me back I do not expect anyone to put tags on for me. It just was very nice of him.

You state "There are exceptions to the rules sometimes" fine, but don't complain when you get a ticket b/c you decide that you have a valid exception to break a parking violation.

Oh, and if there's nothing to do in Livermore, then there must not be any larger problems??????? We all know they have plenty to do...
