Cartus lays off workers

What they did not tell you is that they offered many packages and retirements to incent people to leave "prior" to this layoff--during the month of August and earlier in September.... so that is why "The layoffs did not involve any retirement packages, a Cartus representative said."

Once again Cartus plays the numbers game to their advantage.

Anyone who stayed with the company when they originally merged with Coldwell Banker Relo should have seen the writing on the wall.
Those that moved on, including my spouse figured out the politics of the current management team very quickly.
Fortunately my spouse was not laid off and is with a highly regarded and successful company in an upper management position.

Cartus has a very flawed reputation in Danbury. A few years ago, they settled a lawsuit against a group of African-American employees involving racism, and they have also settled other discrimination lawsuits, and the outcomes do not appear in the press.

On top of it, they lay people off every time the economy suffers, then they wonder why nobody wants to work for them.

Cartus is at it again. The Senior VP of HR is just saying what people want to hear-blah blah blah. People I know are leaving Cartus left and right as the company is certainly not what it use to be. It does have a very flawed reputation in Danbury and they are playing the numbers again to their advantage. I have to agree with the previous two comments. The management is awful and it is all about politics. Totally ridiculous.

Well golly gee, I'm glad no executive positions were cut! Thank God! Why was that even stated? Should we be relieved that no executive postions were cut? Those are actually the positions that should have been cut. All they do is sit in meetings all day long, make terrible decisions. and earn the big bucks. They are a complete joke! The people actually on the floor, in the cubicles, are the ones that are the greatest asset to the company. These are the ones being laid off. Not the executives! Good grief. Open your eyes Cartus.

Let the HR executive go....trickle down the big bucks - politics at play with Cartus.

REALLY? I'm an Executive Admin with 10+ years experience & a very impressive resume and I have been un-employed for 5 months - and it's not because I haven't been looking for work! The nearest applicable positions available are in Stamford, Greenwich & South Norwalk, and they won't even CONSIDER an applicant that lives in Danbury.
Mayor Boughton, I would LOVE to see our "local marketplace absorb" the un-employed in this area. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.

Which "writing on the wall" are you talking about? That a company completely enmeshed in real estate related services will have to cut jobs when the market softens? That reality doesn't really require much analysis, now does it?

Anytime you have another company
buy or take over your company, chances
are your job will be eliminated.
I have worked for three big companies
in the last ten years. And it happened
everytime.
The new company does not want their
employees to think and do business the
way the old company did.
It's their way or the Highway.
If your company is in the process of
this happening, its time to move on
to another job. The only problem is
you never know were to go. Any company
these days can move overseas in a minute. This is the "NEW AMERICAN WAY"

I feel for the people who lost their jobs.
I did not know about any bad reputation they have had in the past.
I think the incentives they gave out early were a pro, but they probably weren't offered to everyone.
Well, if you work there now, feel good that you still have a job. Also, know that it might not be forever. Nothing is forever.

According to Bloomberg, their parent company, Apollo, is tanking as well. I'm surprised only 50 were let go. But, then again, they are known for multiple layoffs at a time. Round 2 is coming shortly. Be prepared.

Cartus has been laying off people since last year, all who were offered packages, funny that didn't make the papers! I cannot believe the comment about no executives were laid off, what a unessacary comment. Is that supposed to make the poor guy who was making $30,000 a year and just got laid off feel better, laying off 1 or 2 of the VP's would have made the same impact to the bottom line! Some of the executives at Cartus made millions upon millions when Apollo bought the company and bought out their stock options. Let's get real and stop outsourcing work to Mexico and India and take care of your own. Get rid of the right people for once! Remember when Cartus was voted one of the top places to work, not anymore, everyone there is for a paycheck and a paycheck alone!

The layoffs did not involve any retirement packages, a Cartus representative said. Employees laid off received severance packages and transition support. No executive positions were cut nationwide.

Of course no executives were laid off - that would make to much sense. It's always the same - they will never care about the little people.

My lovely bride works there at Cartus.
I hope everyone effected by the layoff will be fine......

but for Route39er when looking for jobs in Stamford, Greenwich, South Norwalk tell them you'll be taking the train to work. You'll never be late you will be there when it snows THE TRAIN IS GREAT From Danbury to Stamford it costs $80 a month!!
