Burress Expected to Turn Himself In to Police Today
While the New York Giants cruised to a 23-7 victory over the Washington Redskins yesterday at FedEx Field, the team faced a major distraction with news star wide receiver Plaxico Burress would turn himself in to police this morning, according to his attorney, Benjamin Brafman.
'We are going to proceed to the 17th Precinct [today] at 8 a.m., and it's my understanding that Mr. Burress is going to be charged with criminal possession of a weapon,' Brafman said in a telephone interview. 'He is going to plead not guilty, and we'll proceed from there.'

Everything, from contract to expectations to timetable for success, is different for a quarterback drafted first overall than one drafted 25th.
Even so, they compete in the same unyielding division, and they will share a field today in Landover as the Redskins (7-4) try to draw a game closer to the first-place Giants (10-1) in the NFC East. And now that Manning is the quarterback of the defending Super Bowl champions and the on-field leader of the sport's most imposing team this season, he has become the standard by which the progress of other developing players at the position -- like Campbell -- can be measured.

Burress Accidentally Shoots Himself in Leg
New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was released from a New York hospital yesterday after suffering a leg wound in a shooting Friday, according to the Giants.
According to several reports, Burress accidentally shot himself.
The Giants indicated in a written statement that Burress, 31, had suffered a wound to his right thigh in 'an apparent accidental shooting.' The Giants indicated in the statement that they were gathering facts about the incident and had been in contact with NFL security officials, and added that the shooting 'could become a matter for law enforcement officials.'
