Redskins' Cerrato not Mr. Popularity
Vinny Cerrato - the person atop the Redskins' front office - gave his end-of-season news conference Wednesday, three days after the Redskins completed an 8-8 season under first-year coach Jim Zorn.

Plenty of problems left to fix
It didn't have the tragedy or high drama of the 2007 season, but 2008 was still a memorable year for the Washington Redskins because of Jim Zorn, who brought enthusiasm and new ideas with him from Seattle.
Speculation has swirled around him the last few months, but for Jim Zorn, there was never any doubt.
Cerrato says Zorn's coming back
December 23, 2008 5:23 PM Zorn In an interview with the Washington Post that touched on several topics, Redskins executive director of football operations Vinny Cerrato said it was "crazy" to ask whether Jim ...
Singletary, Niners, Seek Win Over Skins to End '08
The Washington Redskins' struggles down the stretch put first-year head coach Jim Zorn on the hot seat.
First-year players have given Redskins little production
So the Washington Redskins finally got a home win, ending a couple of dreadful streaks - three straight overall, three straight at home.
The atmosphere for a potentially meaningless game in December with a late kickoff and the wind blowing four days from Christmas hours before Hanukkah and the home team on a three-game losing streak.
Switcheroo: Streaking Eagles vs skidding Redskins
Last month, the mob was all over Reid and McNabb, ready to run the longtime coach and franchise quarterback out of town after a three-game winless stretch that put the Philadelphia Eagles into last place in the ...

Rookie Wideouts Under Scrutiny to 'Get It Done'
BALTIMORE, Dec. 7 -- With three games remaining in the regular season, the Washington Redskins still are waiting for rookie wide receivers Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly to become consistent playmakers.
'Malcolm and Devin, we brought 'em here for a reason,' offensive coordinator Sherman Smith said. 'We need them to get it done. You see some signs here and there, you see some things you feel good about, but it all comes down to making plays in the games. That's what it's all about.'
Through Washington's first 12 games, Thomas had 11 receptions for 77 yards and no touchdowns (he scored on a 29-yard reverse in a Week 13 loss to the Giants). Kelly, who has missed eight games because of knee problems, had three catches for 18 yards and no touchdowns.

It's not Jason Campbell who should be the talk around office water coolers the rest of the week. It's not Jim Zorn's bizarre 'benching' of Clinton Portis that should be the chatter that fills the airwaves and Internet sites. What ails the Washington Redskins more than anything else is simple, even if it's not a sexy topic. It's the line play, silly. The Redskins' line play, on both sides of the ball, is completely inadequate.
The offensive line didn't measure up before Chris Samuels was pronounced out for the season and before Jon Jansen had a sprained knee diagnosed, and it figures to be a huge problem over the final three games of the season.
Receivers usually catch on slowly
A receiver's transition from college to the NFL requires learning a new playbook, competing against cornerbacks and safeties more gifted than those in the Big 12 and becoming an efficient downfield blocker.
Redskins Giants Second Quarter
This time it was incomplete but it wouldn't have mattered as it was a good three yards shy of the line to make.
Campbell gets the heat as Redskins offense falters
And not just because he's been sacked 32 times. As the fortunes of the Washington Redskins offense have plummeted, so has the praise that was heaped on the quarterback early in the season.
Malaise grows as Skins' offense sputters again
Hate to darken what Redskins coach Jim Zorn called the "bright" side of Sunday's 23-7 throttling by the New York Giants at FedEx Field, but duty isn't just calling, it's clanging pots and pans together.

New Play Leads to First Touchdown for Rookie Thomas
Rookie wide receiver Devin Thomas has become a bigger part of the game plan on offense each week. Thomas made his biggest contribution yesterday, scoring the Washington Redskins' only touchdown on a 29-yard reverse during a 23-7 loss to the New York Giants at FedEx Field.
In the second quarter, quarterback Jason Campbell tossed the ball to running back Ladell Betts, who was moving toward the left end, and Betts handed it to Thomas as he went in the other direction. Thomas, who picked up a key block from Campbell, raced around the right end and dived into the end zone.

Nothing is stopping the New York Giants these days. Not the latest distraction surrounding their star receiver.

Washington Redskins: Can Jason Campbell Lead Them to the Playoffs?
At 7-4, the Washington Redskins are stuck in the thick of the NFC's playoff race.
Live Blog Redskins Cowboys 3rd quarter
I like the way the game is going, although I don't like Dallas' ability to get an offense going - especially one featuring Barber - in the latter stages of the second quarter.
